country road
UFO beams up
an abandoned dog
beamed up –
the hitchhiker’s thumb
still outstretched
crash landing
surviving alien sound asleep
in a homeless shelter
Arizona night
a UFO cruises Route 66
from a mile up
watching the meteor shower
amidst the falling stars
a UFO ascends
John J. Dunphy is proud of the fact that he is one of scifaiku’s earliest poets. In other words, he’s both talented and old. Published collections of his scifaiku work include Stellar Possibilities, Dark Nebulae and pagan rites. He runs The Second Reading Book Shop in Alton, Illinois, USA.
John and the other twelve members of the Poets Thirteen were nominated for the Pushcart Prize by this publishing house for their renku, “Quantum Entanglement,” which appeared in the debut issue of The Lotus Tree Literary Review.
